Angels

Guardian Angel: who they are, prayers and how to live in their presence

· 10 min read

Devotion to the Guardian Angel is based on the belief that God assigns to each person a spiritual being for their protection and guidance. The Catholic Church celebrates their feast on October 2.

Biblical Foundation and Psalm 91

Psalm 91 promises: "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways". This is not a guarantee of the absence of problems, but a promise of divine accompaniment so that the soul does not stumble spiritually.

How to live their presence

Pope Francis encourages seeing the angel as a companion in daily dialogue. Being attentive to the "intuitions" of peace when making decisions is a way to recognize their silent guidance.

Prayers to the Guardian Angel

The most traditional prayer:

"Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen."
